This was a monster fire which burned 460,000 acres of land including many homes. The area is still charred with the landscape that looks like the moon in many areas. The forest is slow to grow back and it is sad to see the results of the fire even after two years.

This big fire was getting so close to Show Low within 1 mile now

The smoke made many interesting shaped clouds

Some Stephen Jr said looked like an ominous monster looking down

This photo is a view from Stephens back yard

Sunset is approaching and the smoke clouds cast eerie colors as if they were burning too

This photo was taken just as they were finishing up their packing

The smoke was becoming thicker and beginning to give a suffocating feeling the guys said

As you can see the sun is barely visible through the smoke

Young Stephen taking a self portrait with the smoky sky in the background

This photo is looking west up Savage Drive

This is young Stephen again with the smoke in the background

Young Stephen having a snack. You can see Mike Smarts truck and Stephen's being loaded up with as many of their possesions as possible

This photo was taken at some road near Stephens home

Here are Steves friends Dennis Hemphill and Mike Smart who came up to help him pack up and evacuate

They started taking photos as they evacuated from Show Low
