This trip was a wonderful amazing and fun filled vacation. We stayed in a condo located in the Pukalani area (foothills) of Maui’s southern volcano area. I saw so much, tasted new things, smelled new scents, the trip left me and my significant other (at that time) with many delightful memories. Enjoy the tour of our trip!

Burning of the cane fields view from our condo in Pukalani

Steve's photo of the burning cane field.

Our first trip to the beach with Steve in the water - State Beach near Kuhului airport

Steve lost his footing when the wave went back out

Steve relaxing and getting some sun

Looking down the beach, it was beautiful

Yours truly taking in some rays

We are packing up from our first beach trip

Steve on the trail up to the Ioa Needle

Looking down from the highest point along the trail to the Ioa Needle

Ioa Needle...First comment I made was where's the eye of the needle? LOL!

This is the Chinese Pagoda in the oriental gardens

One of the famous Banyan Trees...huge as you can see with Steve as comparision

This is the Korean Oriental Garden with beautiful white Koi

Baldwin House

Steve taking a sit down in the gardens of the Baldwin House

The grounds were so lush and beautiful

Here is one of the original dug out canoes the old Hawaiians used

Here we are on another beach visit. Steve loved getting in the water

And of course he enjoyed digging out the little sand crabs!

He caught it by digging around it's hole to the bottom.

Steve wanted a shot of me on this beach visit.

Here we are at the Tropical Plantation viewing the fruit and lush tropical vegetation

Steve at the entrance of the Maui Aquarium

Right at the entrance they had pools of the giant sea turtles to get up close and personal.

They were surprisingly curious and just look at the beautiful shell!

I took several photos from inside the aquarium of the tropical fish and they came out very nice.

Just the most fascinating array of color and variety

Beautiful fish you will find snorkeling in the surrounding waters!

Some so colorful, we saw these on our snorkeling trip!

The Seahorses were amazing in color and variety too!

This Moray eel was 6 feet long! I sure didn't want to encounter him!

More of the smaller fish found in this part of the ocean.

These jelly fish were fascinating

Here are literally hundreds of them all together like a school of fish

This is the lava field from an eruption in 1794 on the SW part of the island.

This on the road to Piaia through the pineapple fields in that area of the island

The fields of pineapple went on forever it appeared.

Here is Steve with a nice tall one at Bubba Gumps resturant in Lahaina the seaport town.

This photo is of the northern coast of the island which we drove one afternoon.

This area of the island is where most of the dairy farms are located.

The shoreline along the northern coast of the island is very rugged

Not only rugged but always covered with some level of clouds

Here we were approaching the Kuhului coast area and the skies cleared like magic

Along this area the water was a beautiful deep blue-green

The sun was setting fast and the road was a one lane so we were anxious to get back to the condo.

It also was very windy along the coast.

The wind and waves crashing along this rugged coastline were breathtaking!

Here is my shot of the red rock coast

Here is Steve's shot of the same area

Here we are on the road to Hana...a very long curvy road!

A stand of bamboo along the Hana Highway, they were huge

We stopped and I crossed the highway to get a close up shot to show how large the shoots were

Another beautiful photo along the Hana Highway

The tropical forest was so dense and beautiful

This is the Black Sand Beach (really volcanic sand)
