This was a very amazing event for the low desert areas and rarely happens. We awoke to a light snow falling at 8 am January 7, 2005. By 9:30 am it had been snowing steadily and was beginning to pile up everywhere. The residents of my daughter’s housing development were all coming out to experience this unusual desert event. By noon there was 6 inches in some areas and everyone was out playing in the snow...all of us were trying to shovel our driveways! It was a difficult task with NO snow shovel and many resident’s vehicles were slipping and sliding down their driveways from the wet snow.

I started taking photos around 8:30 am. The snow had been falling lightly but steady since 8:00 am

Looking out towards the street from Faith's courtyard

This photo was taken at an hour later at 9:30 am

Another view at 9:30 am

I let Susie Q take a little walk to experience the snow, she tippy toed around holding up her paws every now and then. It was hilarious!

She kept trying to smell through the snow and then would raise her head and shake it vigorously!

How curious she was with this cold wet stuff!

I am sure she could not imagine what this stuff was!

Another view looking south down the street

Actually it was very pretty experiencing this desert snow storm

It was really beginning to pile up everywhere in the courtyard

Thank heavens my silk flowers were unaffected by the snow storm

I could not get over how the delicate flakes were staking up on these thin wheat grass leaves

Now it is almost 12 noon and there is about 4-5 inches of snow on the ground

Just amazing to see the depth of snow which had fallen on the trampoline

The snow had really staked up!

Now it is 1:00 pm and still falling!

I let the dogs out again and Susie Q charged out with excitement and a sense of adventure, but Sarge would not put even one foot in the snow!

What a pretty sight!

Amazing isn't it!

Little stinker is having a ball!

What a silly puppy dog!

Just look at how deep it is all over!

Susie Q tried to climb up on the edge of the pool and almost fell in!
