Laugh A Day

During our visit back to the Mid-West this summer my sister Becky took Faith, Nathan, and I to see an elegant Victorian mansion, completed in 1872 for Judge David Davis and his wife, Sarah. Today, the splendor of their home, furnished with sumptuous English carpeting, expensive French glass, and rare Italian marble, gives opulent testimony to their life and times. The mansion is located in Bloomington, Illinois and was well worth the visit.

Judge David Davis from his earliest days rode the circuit with Abraham Lincoln before he became president. Then after Lincoln became president of the United Sates Judge David Davis served as Lincoln's appointee to the highest court in the land, Judge Davis played out his life at the very center of American politics and society. If you are interested here is the website for the mansion http://www.daviddavismansion.org/ They did not allow any photographs during the tour of the mansion. Enjoy!
