This was a fascinating excursion taking a look back to a time when mining silver, gold, lead, zinc, molybdenum, vanadium, and even turquoise in this area of Arizona was flourishing. Chloride is located at the edge of the Cerbat Mountains in northwest Arizona and was formed when the first mine was opened in 1863. The early prospectors, regarded as intruders, were driven off by Indians time and time again, but the potential wealth of the area always drew the miners back..
